About Bonnie Rukin:  Bonnie Rukin is the Founder & Coordinator of Slow Money Maine, a 10-year old statewide network connecting food producers to investors and technical assistance in order to build a thriving local food economy and vibrant communities. This work has promoted creative, broad-based engagement, focused on collaborative relationships, and has resulted in many solidly established businesses that have benefited from more than $!6mm invested through loans, grants, & equity. Bonnie has brought her background as an organic farmer, teacher, non-profit governance leader and social change agent to this endeavor with very satisfying results! For more than 40 years, Bonnie has explored many of the complex issues of inherited wealth related to personal needs, family dynamics, privilege, cultural influences, justice and social change. She has chosen to question patterns of functioning with money, and definitions of risk and return, along with readily accepted doctrines/myths associated with white supremacy and the racial wealth divide. She has been courageous in investment choices and passionate with philanthropic activity, and regularly and eagerly seeks out bold and values-aligned allies who continue to learn and practice innovative strategies.
